why feminist twitter gets sex work wrong (again)

Look, I'm getting real tired of performative feminists who've never spent a day doing actual sex work lecturing the rest of us about our choices. Every single time there's a discourse about sex work, it's like watching people argue about something they've only read about in academic papers.

I saw this massive Twitter thread last week where some gender studies postgrad was going on about how sex work is inherently oppressive. Classic. Has she ever actually spoken to a sex worker? Spoiler: nope. Just another white academic thinking she's saving us all from ourselves.

The reality is complex. My work isn't some tragic narrative or empowerment fantasy. It's a job. Some days it's boring. Some days it's interesting. Most days it's just work, like any other gig. But apparently that's too nuanced for the online feminist crowd who need everything to fit into their neat little ideological boxes.

What kills me is how these same people claim to be pro-choice right up until the choice involves sex. Then suddenly everyone's got an opinion about what I should or shouldn't do with my body. The cognitive dissonance is genuinely impressive.

Anyway. Another day, another bad take. At least the discourse keeps things spicy.
