Two borders, two rates: working north and south

Weird thing about Dundalk is youre basically straddling two countries. Two legal systems. Two different ways of looking at what I do. Sometimes feels like Im playing a game where the rules change depending which side of the road Im on.

When Im working in Belfast, everything feels more complicated. The north has different laws about soliciting, about advertising. Clients feel different too. More uptight. More discrete. In the south its more relaxed. Like most things in Ireland really.

Rates are interesting. Northern clients tend to pay more. Maybe its the British pound versus euro. Maybe its just how things are. Ive got regulars who will specifically cross the border to see me because its cheaper. Other regulars who prefer the Belfast setup.

Border towns do your head in sometimes. One minute youre here. Next minute youre there. And the laws just shift around you like mist. Not that Im complaining. Makes life interesting.

Anyway. Just some thoughts from the border. Never a dull moment.
