what no one tells you about working and single motherhood

Im sitting here with about 20 minutes before my mum takes the baby so I can do an outcall and honestly this is just how life goes now. Leo is 8 months and hes finally sleeping somewhat predictably which means I can actually plan work again. Single mum + sex work = constant negotiation.

People think its glamorous or sad or whatever but its just practical. Childcare is expensive. My rates cover nursery, rent, food. I dont need anyone feeling sorry for me. This is just how we survive.

Last week I had a regular who knows about Leo and he was actually super cool about me having to stop mid session to take a call from the nursery. Thats the real world right. Sometimes work means wiping a snotty nose between appointments and sometimes it means making sure rent gets paid.

My mum helps a lot. Shes not judgy about the work which helps. She knows Im keeping us fed and housed and thats what matters. Some days are pure chaos and some days feel almost normal. Whatever normal means when youre juggling a baby and clients and trying to keep everything moving.

Anyway. Gotta go get ready. Clients waiting and babies dont care about my schedule.
